IMSS promotes the use of the Digital Card for the care and follow-up of pediatric oncology patients

#InstitutoMexicanoDelSeguroSocial.- At a working meeting with mothers and fathers of pediatric oncology patients, authorities from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) stressed that the use of the Digital Card allows users to know the patient’s treatment history and have access to the information 24 hours a day through any electronic device.

During the sixty-first meeting, the head of the Digital and Information Services Division for Digital Healthcare, Isaac Mejia Montes de Oca, explained that the registration of family members to have access to this application is carried out by Social Work where the minors receive care. The users are discharged and can then consult the patient’s general information.

During the virtual session, he emphasized that in addition to the patient’s general information, the Carnet Digital has existing cycles on certain dates to know in detail the period to be consulted; likewise, this information can be downloaded and printed if necessary.

Regarding the progress of the platform, Actuary Mejía Montes de Oca explained that the pilot test and monitoring of the Blood Bank appointment system continues, where an average of 700 appointments are being scheduled daily through

He also indicated that training continues for doctors and nurses.

He pointed out that so far 6,369 patients have registered on the platform, of which 43 percent are pediatric and 58 percent adult, 137 new users were registered this week and 53 medical units are already using this tool; of these, 14 are High Specialty Medical Units (UMAE) and 39 are Second Level hospitals.
