#SecretaríaDeTurismo.- During the third day of a working tour, together with the governor of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila, prior to the inauguration of the 45th edition of the Tianguis Turístico México, to be held in Mérida starting tomorrow, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) assured that «something is happening in Yucatán, and that is that the state is professionalizing tourism activity, and it is something that is noticeable,» he said.
In the municipality of Progreso the activities began with a tour of the boardwalk and a visit to the Geology Museum.
There, new investments for this important tourist destination were announced.
Secretary Torruco Marqués pointed out that the Geology Museum will be one of the most attractive museums in the world, as it will be a reference point for the extinction of the dinosaurs.
During the tour they visited the new tourist complex located in the heart of the city, a space open to the public for cultural, tourist, family and gastronomic activities, near the cruise ship landing.
The authorities toured the area of the «Yucalpetén Resort & Marina» project, which generates 2,000 jobs and represents an investment of 2.25 billion pesos.
In Merida, they inaugurated two new hotels: the Camino Real and the Villa Mercedes Merida. Secretary Torruco Marqués indicated that in Mexico the growth in the number of hotel rooms from 2019 to 2020 was 17,526 new rooms.
