The State President presented the Federal Executive with work proposals to address the need for more prison infrastructure in Guanajuato

#EstadoDeGuanajuato.- The Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, and the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, agreed to maintain and strengthen inter-institutional work in the area of public security.

This was established during the work meeting of the Security Coordination Table, with the participation of state and federal authorities in charge of security and surveillance actions in Guanajuato.

The President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, informed that it was agreed to continue working together in a coordinated manner on the security issue, in order to guarantee peace and tranquility in Guanajuato.

We are working together, we are going to reinforce, we are going to have more elements of the National Guard, the Ministry of the Navy and the National Defense, we are working in coordination with the State Government,» said the President.

At a press conference, Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, presented the results achieved in terms of security, thanks to the coordinated work between the State and the Federation, highlighting the decrease in the incidence of crime according to INEGI data, a drop in intentional homicides and crimes, and there has been an increase in the number of connections and seizures of weapons.

Guanajuato, said the State President, achieved a decrease of 42.8% in crimes per 100,000 inhabitants, according to INEGI data for 2019-2020, and compared to 2020, the state recorded a decrease of 1,019 intentional homicides, ranking 7th nationally in the rate per 100,000 inhabitants.

According to INEGI, the state is in first place nationally with a 99.5% percentage of indictments in the accusatory criminal system; it is also the state with the most weapons seized, with 1,908.

The State President also highlighted the drop in the rates of common crimes: home robbery with -37.5%, extortion -37.9%, total or partial vehicle theft -49.6%, bank and consumer fraud -26.2%, injuries -27.1% and home robbery -43.2%.

He also reported a drop in high impact crimes in Guanajuato from January-October 2020-2021: vehicle theft -16%, business robbery -36% and kidnapping -45%.
