Mexico will implement the Seventh Amendment to the Harmonized System of the World Customs Organization

#MexicoCity. – In connection with the entry into force of the Seventh Amendment to the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System of the World Customs Organization, the Ministry of Economy comments as follows:

On December 9, 2021, the Chamber of Deputies approved a new Law on General Import and Export Taxes that implements the Seventh Amendment of the Harmonized System and will enter into force no later than June 1, 2022.

The new Law passed to the Senate of the Republic for its consideration and approval at the beginning of the first ordinary period of sessions of the Congress of the Union in February 2022.

At the same time, the Ministry of Economy, together with the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the Tax Administration Service and other authorities involved, is working on the formulation of all secondary administrative provisions necessary for the entry into force of the Seventh Amendment, including all foreign trade measures in force, among them the protection of trade, national industry and health.
