Miguel Torruco presents Mexico’s tourism expectations for 2022

#SecretaríaDeTurismo. – The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) said that an average annual hotel occupancy rate of 54.3% is estimated, which is 12.9 percentage points higher than in 2021.

Regarding the extra hotel offer, through digital platforms, the forecast is that in 2022 11 million spaces will be offered, which means 2.7% more.

He commented that with respect to tourism consumption, it is estimated that this year it will be 146 billion 886 million dollars, which is 12.3% more than at the close of 2021.

Torruco Marqués pointed out that tourism consumption for lodging, which represents the total expenditure of nationals and foreigners, will be 13.374 billion dollars, which is 16.5% more than in 2021.
