SCT provides road recommendations for people leaving on a trip

#SecretaríaDeInfraestructuraComunicacionesYTransporte.- During the Easter holiday period 2022, if you are going out on the road, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) recommends various preventive measures to arrive safely to your destination and enjoy these days off to the fullest.

Remember that in Mexico 71 percent of the causes of traffic accidents are attributable to the driver, with the most common being recklessness or inattention, use of cell phones, excessive speed, failure to wear seat belts, driving in the wrong lane and not respecting the proper distance between vehicles.

Respect traffic signs and fasten your seat belt when occupying the seat; your passengers should do the same. On long trips, rest for at least three hours; fatigue is a motorist’s enemy.

Avoid speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol or any other type of drug, as this multiplies the risks of an accident; also avoid taking medicines that cause drowsiness, or overeating.

Using a cell phone or any other distracting device (e.g. laptop) and being behind the wheel at the same time with the car at high speed reduces the safety distance; we suggest that you do not do so.
