GEM and the Maguey Council of the State of Mexico seek to consolidate the potential of this culturally rooted plant

#GobiernoDelEstadoDeMéxico.- For the administration headed by Governor Alfredo Del Mazo Maza, the incorporation of science and technology in the care and exploitation of the maguey are the best tools to consolidate this crop as a cultural and socioeconomic heritage of the country and the State of Mexico.

This was emphasized by the Secretary of Agriculture, Leticia Mejía García, during her message at the first ordinary session of the Maguey Council of the State of Mexico this year, held in Otumba.

Before members of this public body, which includes representatives of various producer associations and municipalities, the President of the Council also recognized the clear interest in working together and as a team to consolidate the State of Mexico as the second national leader in the production of maguey.

While recognizing that since time immemorial the maguey has been part of the productive culture of Mexico and the State of Mexico, this crop has not yet been developed to its full potential; hence the interest of the State Government to continue increasing the value it represents.
