SEP strengthens National Reading Strategy with 2 million books for public libraries in the country

#SecretaríaDeEducaciónPública.- To strengthen the National Reading Strategy promoted by the federal government, the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) distributed more than 1,943,000 books to the country’s public libraries, informed its head, Delfina Gómez Álvarez.

During her participation in the Fandangos por la Lectura, held today in the Central Plaza of the municipality of Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas, led by the wife of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Beatriz Gutiérrez Mueller, the Secretary stated that this habit is a haven for humanity, especially after the effects and uncertainty left by the pandemic caused by COVID-19.

In the presence of the governor of Chiapas, Rutilio Escandón Cadenas, the SEP head commented that this collective and itinerant celebration of music, song, dance and reading exalts sensitivity, changes lives, and even allows to imagine and develop feelings that are not always present in society.
