Issste committed to generate actions for the benefit of seniors

#InstitutoDeSeguridadYServiciosSocialesDeLosTrabajadoresDelEstado.- In the Government of Mexico, the elderly are a priority, and at the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste) we are committed to generating actions aimed at strengthening their health, social security, care and welfare in order to contribute to their quality of life, said Yezmín Lehmann Mendoza, Regulatory Director of Economic, Social and Cultural Benefits.

In the framework of the World Day for Awareness of Abuse and Mistreatment of the Elderly, and on behalf of the General Director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, the public servant emphasized that the Institute’s programs promote a dignified and constant treatment to guide the community towards respect and non-discrimination of the 1,271,949 beneficiaries of this sector.

«Mistreatment of the elderly is a worldwide social problem that affects public health and damages the human rights of millions of senior citizens. It has unfortunate consequences, such as damage to the family and institutions,» he said.

In the facilities of the Centro de Convivencia para Pensionados y Jubilados (Convive) -a space that offers lodging, food, cultural and recreational outings-, Lehmann Mendoza called to reflect on this problem that affects them and to denounce any act that causes them physical and emotional damage.
