President shares vision of peace with Pope Francis; security strategy will not change

#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador responded to Pope Francis’ message posted on his Twitter account for the recent murder of two Jesuit priests and a tour guide in Urique, Chihuahua.

«He writes a message lamenting the situation in Mexico. At the same time, stressing that violence is not the way to achieve peace, that violence generates more violence. (…) We totally agree,» he expressed.

In a morning press conference, the Chief Executive affirmed that a thorough investigation will be carried out on these events and the search for those responsible will continue.

A possible arrangement between authorities and the alleged perpetrator of the crime will be considered as a line of investigation in order to know the whole truth.

«We must investigate because it is unacceptable and also very suspicious that such a person would lead such a normal life, because, according to the report of the Chihuahua State Prosecutor’s Office, he was a sponsor of a baseball team with the background he already had and known throughout the region with arrest warrants,» he explained.
