VU Manufacturing’s Rapid Response Labor Mechanism in México is successfully concluded / @tatclouthier @SE_mx >>>

#SE.- The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and the Ministry of Economy, successfully concludes the fifth request for review notified last July 21 by the government of the United States in the framework of the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism in specific facilities (MLRR) of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC).

Thanks to the new provisions established in the 2019 Labor Reform, Mexico’s compliance with its labor commitments under the T-MEC was guaranteed, particularly in the case of the VU Manufacturing (VU) facility located in Piedras Negras, Coahuila.

The petition for review involved the analysis of a denial of collective labor rights. As part of the remediation, on August 31, a consultation was carried out for the Certificate of Representativeness, which took place in peaceful conditions and with certainty through a personal, free, direct and secret vote, guaranteeing the right of the workers to decide for the union that will best represent their interests in the collective bargaining agreement.

With the foregoing, the facts that were subject to investigation under the MLRR were effectively solved, within the 45 calendar day term established by the Treaty for the internal investigation by the Government of Mexico. In this sense, the Government of Mexico, through the Federal Center for Labor Conciliation and Registration, will follow up on the due compliance of the commitments assumed in the framework of the consultation, in order to guarantee the rights of the workers.
