#Tecámac, #Edoméx.- In the framework of the 197th Anniversary of the Foundation of Tecámac, the Mayoress Mariela Gutiérrez Escalante inaugurated the Municipal Historical Archive, which includes more than eight thousand boxes of documentation that is part of the historical memory of this municipality since 1820, as well as records of the last three decades.

The Municipal President said that this is a historical and transcendental fact, and pointed out that one of her great concerns since she took office is to preserve all the history of this municipality, in which subject there was disdain, indolence and disregard in the past administrations.

Accompanied by the council, municipal officials and the director of the archive, she recalled that the documents were rescued from some warehouses rented by a former mayor, which is a sign that the archives that have been kept since 1820 were not appreciated, among them those related to the recognition of Tecámac as a municipality of the State of Mexico in 1825.

Among the compilation, there is a special section referring to the Municipal Historical Archive, in which the documentation from 1820 is kept, where there are also minutes of the town council held in the municipal seat, formerly called Santa Cruz Tecámac in 1827, signed by the then mayor José Gabriel Rodríguez.

There is a census of the town and the municipal seat that was made in 1832, where the number of inhabitants is shown with age, sex, marital status, and number of members per house and family of that time.
