#ISSSTE.- The Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste) is making progress in complying with the strategy of zero surgical backlog, as a result of the COVID-19 health emergency; intensive surgery days are being carried out in the states of the country for the benefit of the beneficiaries, informed the General Director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella.

He pointed out that, from January to September, at the «Dr. Pedro Bárcenas Hiriart» Family Medicine Clinic with Simplified Surgery Center (CMF+Cecis) in San Luis Potosí, 272 ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology surgeries were performed, which allowed several patients to recover their health.

This achievement is the result of the strengthening of the country’s primary care medical units through rehabilitation and maintenance works, in addition to the provision of more than 2,500 pieces of equipment and many more that continue to be distributed to meet President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s instruction to rescue the Issste, emphasized the head of the agency.

He acknowledged the work carried out by the medical staff of the CMF+Cecis «Dr. Pedro Bárcenas Hiriart», because in addition to providing quality care with excellent results for the health of patients, the surgical backlog for COVID-19 is gradually being reduced and the Institute’s resolution capacity is being recovered.
