#EstadoDeVeracruz.- The opening ceremony by Governor Cuitláhuac García Jiménez marked the start of the Xalapa y su Cultura International Festival; four days of art, cinema, conferences, concerts, workshops and theater that return to the capital the well-earned nickname of Atenas Veracruzana (Veracruz Athens).

The second edition of this initiative of the State Government and the City Council has programmed more than 130 activities in 35 venues, including the presentation of artists such as Eugenia León, Tania Libertad, Los Estrambóticos and Los Choclok, as well as guests from Argentina, Ecuador, the United States, Peru and Japan.

This year the billboard and the number of volunteers doubled from 300 to 400, having 55 million visual impacts that positioned the tourist brands Xalapa and Veracruz in eight states; before the start of the event all the figures were already exceeded, boasted the Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Iván Francisco Martínez Olvera.

On behalf of the private sector, the president of the Union of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Culture and Adventure Region, Carlos Alberto Mesa Bañuelos, acknowledged the willingness to articulate art and culture with tourism, hoping for consolidation and adding optimism for the good of Xalapa.

During the event, the master lectures by baristas Enrique López and Avelino Hernández; The birth certificate of Veracruz gastronomy, by chef José Burela Picazzo; Cinema as a business model, by Aarón Campos, and Beyond cinema, by Terry Fernández, stand out.
