Educational backwardness, a consequence not only of the pandemic but also of the standardization of neoliberal governments / @Letamaya @SEP_mx >>>

#SEP.- The educational backwardness that exists in Mexico is not only a result of the pandemic, but also a consequence of how the neoliberal governments, favoring standardization, wasted the immense ethnic, cultural and linguistic diversity of the country, emphasized the Secretary of Public Education, Leticia Ramirez Amaya.

At the closing of the LVI Ordinary Plenary Meeting of the National Council of Educational Authorities (Conaedu), she assured that this guideline caused exclusion and inequity in educational services and harmed the poorest, as today they reflect an accumulation of unachieved learning.

Ramírez Amaya affirmed that for the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador it is a priority to attend to the children of the most vulnerable regions, the poorest, the indigenous and Afro-Mexican communities, which implies recognizing their knowledge and customs.

In the presence of state education authorities, the Minister of Public Education reiterated that the return to on-site classes does not imply the restoration of the school before the pandemic, but the construction of new educational scenarios that recover the social learning of students and teachers.

She also highlighted the importance of recognizing and encouraging the learning that students achieved during the confinement and the pandemic, such as the incorporation of new technologies, in order to identify how they can strengthen the work being done in the classroom.
