Pre-operational tests of the México-Toluca Interurban Train have begun and civil works are progressing: Nuño Lara / @jorgenunol @SCT_mx >>>

#SICT.- The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara, affirmed that the civil work on 41 of the 58 kilometers of the Interurban Train Mexico-Toluca (TIMT) is finished and two of the five sections are in pre-operational tests.

At a press conference at the National Palace headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, accompanied by the head of the Mexico City Government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the Governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo Maza, the head of the SICT explained that of those 41 kilometers, the civil works of sections 1, 2 and 5 are finished.

He specified that the electromechanical work on section 1, of 36 kilometers, is 100 percent complete and 80 percent of the 5-kilometer bi-tunnel; likewise, the first traction substation is completed and in operation, and the second substation is 90 percent complete.

Regarding the rolling stock, he said that all the electric trains are in the process of being prepared to start their tests in the second quarter of 2023. The Control Center, the heart of the project, is also finished, equipped and ready to start operating once the testing period is concluded.
