#IMSS.- Medical specialists from the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) recommended to be careful when choosing the toys that children will receive as part of Three Kings Day, to look for those that attract their attention and stimulate their neurodevelopment, without forgetting that they should be safe options for each age group, in order to avoid accidents.

«Children under five years of age are at the greatest risk of suffering mishaps, so toys containing small parts should be avoided, since they often put them in their mouths and could cause suffocation or intoxication,» said Dr. Alfredo Simental Toba, head of the Pediatrics Division of the Pediatrics Hospital of the Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI.

He indicated that in the first months of life, the most appropriate toys are those made of fabric with different textures, colors and sounds, which in turn promote psychomotor actions such as sitting or rolling, to later start crawling, but always be careful with rattles or heavy objects, since they still do not control their movements and can hit themselves.

He also commented that from the first to the second year of age, we recommend those with which they can stand up to help them walk, games with music, colors that call their attention, objects that they can put in and take out in the same game, figures that will allow them to identify the sounds of each one, as well as those that help them to know parts of the body.
