Reordering of domestic and foreign cargo at the AICM takes into account the needs of the sector: SICT / @jorgenunol @SCT_mx >>>

#SICT.- The government’s preliminary project to reorganize domestic and international cargo operations at Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport (AICM), sent to the National Commission for Regulatory Improvement (CONAMER), considers prior consultations and work meetings with federal authorities and representatives of the airline industry.

The document states in a single point that the AICM would be «closed for the operations of concessionaires and permit holders that provide national and international scheduled and non-scheduled air transportation services to the public, exclusively for cargo».

It also makes clear that «concessionaires and permit holders that provide combined passenger and cargo services are exempted from this determination, as long as the cargo is transported in the same aircraft as the passengers».

It should be noted that since July of last year, the SICT, through the Undersecretary of Transportation, has held a total of 43 events with 61 groups from the air cargo industry and federal government agencies to discuss the convenience of reorganizing domestic and foreign cargo at the AICM.

This federal agency has also coordinated 11 visits to the AIFA facilities to clearly understand the needs for the start-up of operations; 20 working groups with the industry to follow up and attend to commitments, and 12 specific meetings to learn about their work and map their specific requirements.
