SECTUR and San Luis Potosí announce important investments and projects to boost tourism in the state / @TorrucoTurismo @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- Accompanied by the Secretary of Tourism of San Luis Potosí, Aurora Mancilla Castro, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) held an important meeting with the state governor, where agreements were reached to strengthen tourism infrastructure and connectivity in order to increase the arrival of tourists, as well as economic revenue.

He highlighted that, with an estimated investment of 550 million pesos, work is being carried out on the expansion and remodeling of the Tamuín Airport, with the expansion of the runway by 1,000 meters, leaving it at 2,400 meters, so that it can receive larger aircraft; as well as the construction of the new terminal building with 1,500 square meters and the construction of the Control Tower, which will be 22 meters high, a project that will be completed in the first half of 2024.

He pointed out that from January to November 2022, air activity in San Luis Potosi registered 3,476 flights, which transported 274,103 passengers, which means 8.2% and 24.3% more than in the same period of 2021.

The Secretary of Tourism highlighted the importance of the entity in the tourism field, having representative sites such as the Edward James Surrealist Garden, declared an artistic monument in 2012 by the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL); the Sótano de las Golondrinas, one of the deepest abysses in the world; as well as four Magical Towns: Real de Catorce, Xilitla, Aquismón and Santa María del Río, the latter considered the «cradle of the rebozo».
