#Ecatepec, #EstadoDeMéxico.- Fernando Vilchis Contreras, municipal president of Ecatepec, announced that the local government will grant financial support of 10,000 pesos to 1,500 members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite, Transgender, Transsexual, Intersex, Intersex and Queer (LGBTTTIQ+) population in vulnerable situations, through a social benefit programme called Tarjeta Arcoíris (Rainbow Card).
The Mayor of Ecatepec said that the Tarjeta Arcoíris is the first national programme that was created as a response to the problem of discrimination and exclusion that prevails in society towards non-heterosexual people.
Vilchis Contreras informed that the registration period for the programme will be from 27 to 31 March 2023, 24 hours a day, at the Civic Centre of San Cristóbal. The list of beneficiaries will be published from 16 June this year on the website www.ecatepec.gob.mx, in addition to the six alternative government offices.
Vilchis Contreras stressed that thanks to the financial health of the municipality, it will be possible to provide financial support without putting the municipality into debt.
He added: «Thanks to the good financial health of our government, Ecatepec is once again taking a very important step forward in Favour of inclusion and diversity by launching the Tarjeta Arcoíris (Rainbow Card). This support is a programme, one of the first programmes at the national level, which will grant economic support of 10,000 pesos in four payments divided during the months of June, August, October and December of this year, to 1,500 beneficiaries of the LGBTTTIQ+ populations of scarce resources in our municipality».
