#SecretaryOf Economy<\/strong>,\u00a0#M\u00e9xico<\/strong>.-\u00a0The Ministry of Economy participated in the Mexican Council for Standardization and Conformity Assessment (COMENOR) 2025 Forum, a meeting that brought together standardization and conformity assessment organizations, business chambers and associations, academic institutions, and public agencies. This forum established itself as a space to coordinate efforts across sectors and strengthen the National Quality Infrastructure System, which constitutes a pillar for the country’s economic and social development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Closing Keynote Address, entitled \u00abPlan Mexico: Challenges for generating a competitive quality infrastructure model in the short term that promotes economic development,\u00bb Andrea Genoveva Solano Rend\u00f3n, head of the Unit for Standardization, Competitiveness, and Competition (UNCC), emphasized that quality infrastructure is a cross-cutting pillar of economic policy that, under the leadership of Secretary of Economy Marcelo Ebrard, translates into technical certainty, consumer and business confidence, innovation, and competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cQuality and innovation are the key to Mexico’s stronger position in international markets. Under the leadership of Secretary Marcelo Ebrard and with the vision of President Claudia Sheinbaum, we are promoting a modern and reliable regulatory system that not only provides technical certainty but also generates added value and opens up new development opportunities for our country,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of the UNCC also highlighted that the Ministry of Economy is promoting regulatory modernization by reviewing the Draft Regulations for the Quality Infrastructure Law, a process that has been enriched by contributions from industry, academia, and other stakeholders in the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her part, in Panel 1: The Importance of Standardization and the Implementation of Regulations, Lilian Aurora P\u00e9rez Ornelas, Director General of Standards, noted that standardization ensures the quality, safety, and reliability of goods and services, while facilitating Mexico’s integration into global value chains and fostering innovation. He emphasized that the principles of the Quality Infrastructure Law help build trust among consumers, producers, and authorities, and that the challenge lies in consolidating a true culture of quality, in which standards are viewed as an added value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
