The municipality experienced a momentous Macro Reforestation Day last Saturday, a coordinated effort that culminated in the planting of 10,000 trees at multiple key locations. This initiative is an essential part of the Annual Reforestation Program, which bears the moving name \u00abRebuilding Your House Among the Trees.\u00bb<\/strong> With the active participation of various sectors, the urgent recovery of forgotten green areas vital to the community is sought. The commitment is clear: to return to nature the space and attention it deserves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Municipal President Daniel Serrano Palacios<\/strong> led the opening ceremony, with the valuable presence of business leaders, civil society representatives, and members of the city council. Serrano Palacios firmly reaffirmed his administration’s determination to restore those natural spaces that, historically, \u00abhave not been given the importance they deserve.\u00bb This event is not only about reforestation, but also a declaration of principles regarding ecological priority on the local agenda. A healthier environment is possible with collective will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, the mayor shared a fundamental announcement for the municipality’s environmental future. \u00abIt is important to inform everyone that since 2009, the Espejo de los Lirios (Water Lilies Mirror) has been declared a municipal Natural Protected Area,\u00bb<\/strong> explained Serrano Palacios, highlighting a historical shortcoming. \u00abAnd yesterday, with the support of our Councilmen, Councilwomen, and Trustees, we finally approved the management program for the Espejo de los Lirios (Water Lilies Mirror),\u00bb he concluded, thus ensuring the effective management and conservation of this important body of water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 600 municipal public servants joined the cause, accompanied by personnel from the Mexican Government’s #SEMARNAT<\/strong> (Secretary of State for the Environment and Development), symbolizing institutional unity. The initiative also brought together socially responsible companies such as Coca-Cola FEMSA<\/strong> and ALPLA M\u00c9XICO<\/strong>, along with enthusiastic members of the Scout Group and committed citizens. Antonio Reyna Cabrera, head of the SEMARNAT representative office in the State of Mexico, emphasized the importance of trees and praised the municipal cooperation in reforestation and the cleanup of the Lago de Guadalupe Dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The territorial extent of the reforestation was remarkable, stretching from the municipal kiosk in the Urban Center to the median strips of Huehuetoca Avenue and the Mexico-Quer\u00e9taro Highway, and even Bosque de Morelos Park<\/strong>. Prior to planting, an environmental education talk was given to ensure the survival of the trees, which included species such as acacia, sweetgum, jacaranda, and oak. The 10,000 trees were planted with a technical separation of three meters, demonstrating that a long-term vision is the guideline of this green commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
