#SecretaryOf Economy<\/strong>,\u00a0#M\u00e9xico<\/strong>.- The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard<\/strong>, convened a key meeting today with Mexican Senators, who are members of the Economy<\/strong> and the TMEC Review and Implementation<\/strong> Commissions. The high-level consultation was organised to update lawmakers on the current status of trade negotiations<\/strong> with the United States. Furthermore, Mr. Ebrard<\/strong> formally initiated discussions regarding the upcoming internal consultations<\/strong> in preparation for the mandated TMEC review in 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the constructive and diverse meeting, Secretary Ebrard<\/strong> highlighted Mexico’s strong position, informing the Senators that \u00ab85% of our trade with the US is tariff-free\u00bb<\/strong>. He asserted that this favourable status gives Mexico a significant commercial advantage over many other nations in the global market. The Minister also underscored the fundamental role<\/strong> that the Senate<\/strong> will play in the public consultation process<\/strong>, scheduled to take place over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of the Economy Secretariat stressed the confidence<\/strong> Mexico currently enjoys as an investment destination<\/strong>, detailing the progress of the Shared Prosperity Investment Portfolio<\/strong>. Mr. Ebrard<\/strong> outlined Mexico’s strategic approach to the evolving new commercial order<\/strong>, emphasising the nation’s stability and appeal to international capital. The Secretariat has publicly committed to working closely with Senators<\/strong> from across the political spectrum to ensure a consensus-driven strategy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This collaborative effort is focused on securing the strongest possible position for the country ahead of the TMEC review<\/strong> as the Government seeks to strengthen Mexico’s standing<\/strong> on the world stage. Accompanying the Secretary were senior officials, including Vidal Llerenas<\/strong>, Undersecretary for Industry and Commerce; Ximena Escobedo<\/strong>, Head of the Productive Development Unit; Deborah Alcocer<\/strong>, Head of the Commercial Practices Unit; and Daniel Mill\u00e1n<\/strong>, Director General of Social Communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
