#FederalGovernment<\/strong>,\u00a0#Mexico<\/strong>.-\u00a0President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo<\/strong> emphasized that, one year into her administration, the 32 percent reduction in intentional homicides between September 2024 and September 2025 is very significant, as it represents 27 fewer people dying each day from this crime. She attributed this to the implementation of the four pillars of the National Security Strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cImagine, 27 fewer homicides each day, 32 percent. But let’s say the number 32 percent isn’t as indicative as saying there are 27 fewer intentional homicides each day, 27 people who don’t die each day due to intentional homicide. A very significant reduction. Evidently, we will continue working to achieve a greater reduction,\u201d she emphasized during the morning press conference, \u201cLas ma\u00f1aneras del pueblo\u201d (The People’s Morning Press Conference).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He pointed out that this reduction has been possible thanks to the Attention to Causes program, which has allowed for comprehensive action in municipalities with the highest incidence; the strengthening of the National Guard within the Ministry of National Defense; and the Ministry of Intelligence and Investigation, which led to the creation of the National Investigation and Intelligence System, which collaborates with state prosecutors’ offices and state security secretariats and allows for better investigation files, which in turn lead to the arrests of perpetrators of violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also acknowledged that the work carried out during the six-year term of former President Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador helped him take office, as intentional homicides were already trending downward, after stabilizing between 2019 and 2021, contrary to the six-year terms of Felipe Calder\u00f3n and Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto, where their growth was exponential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
