Coinciding with <strong>World Mental Health Day<\/strong> on 10 October, the event highlighted the Institute\u2019s foundational work over nearly 46 years, focusing on understanding mental health, and the study and treatment of mental illnesses through <strong>interdisciplinary research<\/strong>. This commitment ensures that vital knowledge is continually advanced for the benefit of the nation&#8217;s well-being and health care provision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Eduardo Madrigal de Le\u00f3n<\/strong>, the <strong>INPRFM<\/strong> Director General, reported on the Institute\u2019s robust research capacity, detailing that it currently employs <strong>114 career researchers<\/strong> and <strong>18 research officials<\/strong>. These specialists are dedicated to fields such as <strong>biomedical investigations<\/strong>, particularly neurosciences, alongside clinical, epidemiological, and social studies. Significantly, <strong>104<\/strong> of these researchers belong to the National System of Researchers (<strong>SNI<\/strong>), underscoring the high calibre of expertise at the Institute. <strong>Dr. Madrigal de Le\u00f3n<\/strong> also highlighted that the <strong>INPRFM<\/strong> manages <strong>10 lines of investigation<\/strong> and <strong>179 ongoing research protocols<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Institute\u2019s scholarly output is substantial, with notable annual publications in specialised journals from levels III to VI, alongside the production of books and chapters. Impressively, the <strong>INPRFM<\/strong> holds the <strong>third highest H-index<\/strong> in Mexico, a measure of article citations, positioning it just behind the National Institutes of Public Health (<strong>INSP<\/strong>) and Medical Sciences and Nutrition <strong>Salvador Zubir\u00e1n<\/strong> (<strong>INCMNSZ<\/strong>). The Director General further noted the high demand for clinical services, with the <strong>INPRFM<\/strong>\u2019s outpatient services providing <strong>over 100,000 consultations annually<\/strong>, in addition to approximately <strong>600 short-stay hospitalisations<\/strong> per year, with some patients participating in research protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>INPRFM<\/strong> is also a key centre for <strong>human resources training<\/strong> in its specialism, educating <strong>177 medical residents<\/strong> in psychiatry and <strong>220<\/strong> individuals in nursing specialties, master\u2019s degrees, and doctorates in medical and public health sciences focused on mental health. <strong>Mart\u00edn P\u00e9rez Garc\u00eda<\/strong>, Director General of Translational Medicine and High Speciality Teaching Strategies for the <strong>CCINSHAE<\/strong>, commended the <strong>INPRFM&#8217;s commitment and progress<\/strong>, highlighting its role in generating high-calibre, <strong>\u00abhumanistic\u00bb<\/strong> medical, paramedical, and research personnel.
