#MexicanSocialSecurityInstitute<\/strong>,\u00a0#Mexico<\/strong>.- The Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zo\u00e9 Robledo<\/strong>, alongside the Secretary of Health, Doctor David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz<\/strong>, inaugurated the Commission for the Transformation of Surgical Care<\/strong> within the Social Security system. This pivotal new model is designed to establish a space for innovation, evidence, and collaboration<\/strong>, uniting various key institutions to generate robust knowledge and proposals. Its ultimate goal is to fortify surgery as a potent lever for transforming<\/strong> the entire national health system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking in the \u00abGast\u00f3n Novelo\u00bb plenary session hall of the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS), Zo\u00e9 Robledo<\/strong> outlined the structure of the new Commission. It comprises three core lines of research, covering system fundamentals, care processes, and quality impact, alongside 14 research nuclei<\/strong>. Each nucleus brings together an IMSS researcher<\/strong>, a substantive Institute promoter, and an allied external investigator<\/strong> to drive forward change. The Commission\u2019s focus is clear: to be a source of applicable knowledge<\/strong> to enhance health services, specifically surgical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robledo<\/strong> elaborated that these nuclei feature senior directors and specialists from the Social Security Institute, alongside experts from prestigious national and international partners. These include the Boston Children’s Hospital<\/strong>, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP)<\/strong>, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)<\/strong>, and leading technological universities such as ITAM<\/strong>, Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey<\/strong>, and Universidad An\u00e1huac<\/strong>. This multi-institutional approach aims to improve waiting times and quality of care<\/strong>, which will directly impact user satisfaction for those insured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IMSS Director General stressed that this is not an individual effort, declaring: \u201cWhat is learned here belongs to the health sector<\/strong>, to Mexico, to its government, and to its people, as an experience that can be exportable<\/strong> to other countries in our region.\u201d Secretary Kershenobich Stalnikowitz<\/strong> commended Zo\u00e9 Robledo\u2019s<\/strong> leadership, adding that the Health Secretariat fully supports the initiative. He concluded by asserting that \u201cimproving surgical care is also a way to strengthen the leadership<\/strong> of the health system,\u201d setting a significant precedent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
