#ISSSTE<\/strong>,\u00a0#Mexico<\/strong>.- The Director of the Institute for Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE<\/strong>), Mart\u00ed Batres Guadarrama<\/strong>, provided a critical update on the agency\u2019s response to the recent severe rainfall. Speaking at President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo\u2019s<\/strong> \u00abLa Ma\u00f1anera del Pueblo\u00bb conference, Batres Guadarrama<\/strong> confirmed that the institution is currently addressing damage across 29 medical units<\/strong>. These facilities, located in the states of Hidalgo, Puebla, Veracruz, San Luis Potos\u00ed, and Quer\u00e9taro, were impacted by the heavy downpours between 6th and 9th October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Providing a breakdown of the damage, the ISSSTE<\/strong> Director stated: \u00abDe estas 29 unidades: 15 ya se encuentran funcionando; 13 tienen da\u00f1os menores<\/strong>.\u00bb He then detailed the most significant damage<\/strong> at the \u00c1lamo unit, which was \u00abinund\u00f3 completamente\u00bb<\/strong> and suffered \u00abun da\u00f1o total\u00bb<\/strong>. He explained the floodwaters reached nearly two metres, severely damaging all internal equipment, though he praised the commitment of the staff who are continuing to serve the public outside the main unit after initial clean-up efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the Churubusco Specialities Clinic<\/strong> in Mexico City, which experienced severe flooding from Friday’s rains, Mart\u00ed Batres<\/strong> confirmed that services were fully restored this Monday. This rapid recovery was achieved thanks to intensive cleaning and dredging efforts<\/strong> carried out over the weekend, involving support from the Mexico City Government and dedicated ISSSTE<\/strong> cleaning staff. Furthermore, he reported that seven flood victims<\/strong> across the affected states required hospitalisation and were transferred for treatment to the Cl\u00ednica Hospital (CH) in Huauchinango, Puebla, and the Hospital General (HG) in Pachuca, Hidalgo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
