#MinistryOfCommunicationsAndTransportation<\/strong>,\u00a0#M\u00e9xico<\/strong>.- The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT)<\/strong>, has announced a significant recovery in connectivity for communities affected by the recent extraordinary rainfall. During the \u00abMa\u00f1anera del Pueblo\u00bb press conference, chaired by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo<\/strong>, the Secretary of SICT, Jes\u00fas Antonio Esteva Medina<\/strong>, confirmed that communication has been successfully restored to 161 previously isolated localities<\/strong>. This achievement saw the number of cut-off communities across Hidalgo, Puebla, San Luis Potos\u00ed, Quer\u00e9taro, and Veracruz drop from 288 to 127<\/strong> between Tuesday, 14th, and Friday, 17th October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Esteva Medina<\/strong> provided a detailed account of the federal response to the widespread infrastructure damage, noting a total of 461 incidents<\/strong> recorded on both the State Road Network<\/strong> and Feeder Roads<\/strong>. To date, 206 of these incidents<\/strong> have been successfully addressed, utilising 370 pieces of heavy machinery<\/strong> and the efforts of 685 workers<\/strong> across 112 active work fronts<\/strong>. Furthermore, he specified that the substantial work of debris removal and essential clearing operations is supported by 375 machines<\/strong> and a large-scale workforce of 4,500 personnel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Secretary stressed<\/strong> that this extensive effort is maintained through coordinated work<\/strong> with the Ministries of Defence and Navy<\/strong>, which have dedicated 323 machines<\/strong> and 4,756 personnel<\/strong> on the ground. Focusing on the worst-hit states, the number of isolated communities in Hidalgo<\/strong> decreased from 84 to 77<\/strong>, following the crucial reopening of 131 roads<\/strong>. Meanwhile, in Puebla<\/strong>, the figure fell from 21 to 13<\/strong> isolated localities, with nine key roads<\/strong> successfully cleared and opened within the three-day operational period, reflecting the rapid pace of restoration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
