#MexicanSocialSecurityInstitute<\/strong>,\u00a0#Mexico<\/strong>.- A routine visit from the ‘Salud Casa por Casa’<\/strong> (Health Home-by-Home) programme successfully identified a serious heart condition in a male patient in Guanajuato. Following the diagnosis, the man was immediately referred to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS)<\/strong>. Thanks to this timely intervention<\/strong> and the prompt medical care received, the patient’s life is now out of danger, underscoring the vital role of proactive community health initiatives in preventing severe medical emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The patient, Rub\u00e9n ‘N’<\/strong>, a 73-year-old IMSS member, had not attended a medical check-up for five years<\/strong>, despite recently experiencing fatigue<\/strong> while walking or lifting objects. He explained the moment he was found: \u00abI was resting at home when they knocked on the door, then they took my vitals and they were weak. The young lady sent me to the IMSS in Celaya, they transferred me to Le\u00f3n in an ambulance and they checked me until they put in a pacemaker<\/strong>.\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given the gravity of his condition, Rub\u00e9n ‘N’<\/strong> was referred from the IMSS Family Medicine Unit No. 49 in Celaya to the High-Speciality Medical Unit (UMAE) No. 1<\/strong> in Le\u00f3n, part of the Baj\u00edo National Medical Centre (CMNB)<\/strong>. Cardiologist Iv\u00e1n Alfonso Gonz\u00e1lez Rosas<\/strong> diagnosed him with a complete atrioventricular block<\/strong> (AVB), an urgent, life-threatening condition. The patient was immediately fitted with a temporary pacemaker<\/strong>, followed by a definitive pacemaker<\/strong> treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Gonz\u00e1lez Rosas<\/strong> stressed the critical nature of the prompt treatment, noting that \u00abif the patient hadn’t been detected in the ‘Salud Casa por Casa’<\/strong> programme, his cardiac condition could have taken his life at any moment.\u00bb He further highlighted that had the pacemaker not been fitted in time, the patient’s natural evolution \u00abcould have been catastrophic.\u00bb<\/strong> The specialist concluded: \u00abI feel privileged to work in this institution, proud to contribute to the care of our patients and maintain the integrity of families<\/strong>.\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n
