The <strong>Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes<\/strong>, told the <strong>Chamber of Deputies<\/strong> that the principle <strong>\u00abfor the good of all, the poor first\u00bb<\/strong> has delivered <strong>\u00abclear\u00bb<\/strong> results: between 2018 and 2024, <strong>13.4 million people<\/strong> have been lifted out of poverty, confirming that the transformation is advancing along the <strong>\u00abcorrect path\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During her address, <strong>Montiel Reyes<\/strong> explained that the success in reducing poverty and inequality \u2014 which fell from <strong>0.426 to 0.391 on the Gini scale<\/strong> \u2014 is the direct outcome of a formula combining economic and social policies. She emphasised that historic wage recovery, with a <strong>125% increase in the minimum wage since 2018<\/strong>, together with a comprehensive social protection system, has been decisive. This system is embodied in the <strong>Welfare Programmes<\/strong>, which provide a basic income in households and have contributed to a real increase of <strong>16% in household income<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Welfare Secretary<\/strong> underlined that total social investment has reached <strong>850 billion pesos<\/strong>, benefiting more than <strong>32 million people<\/strong> with a Welfare Programme to date. She added that in this first year, social justice and access to rights have been expanded through new schemes, including the <strong>Welfare Pension for Women Aged 60 to 64<\/strong>. This initiative, which <strong>\u00abmaterialises the expression &#8216;we all arrived'\u00bb<\/strong>, acknowledges the contribution of Mexican women and is set to invest <strong>23.662 billion pesos in 2025<\/strong>, benefiting nearly <strong>three million women<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the health sector, the <strong>Health House by House<\/strong> programme is emerging as one of the most significant prevention and primary care schemes worldwide, offering free home medical consultations. It began with a health census for older adults and people with disabilities, and to date has invested <strong>4.757 billion pesos<\/strong> to deliver more than <strong>8.15 million personalised medical consultations<\/strong>. In addition, the <strong>Welfare Pension for Older Adults<\/strong> guarantees a dignified old age for <strong>13.3 million beneficiaries<\/strong>, providing <strong>6,200 pesos every two months<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>President Claudia Sheinbaum<\/strong> has reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening these programmes. The <strong>Pension for People with Disabilities<\/strong>, which benefits more than <strong>1.6 million individuals<\/strong>, is already available from birth to age 64 in <strong>24 states<\/strong>, thanks to collaboration with state governments.
