#SafeWorkspaces<\/strong> #ZeroToleranceViolence<\/strong> —- #MinistryOfCommunicationsAndTransportation<\/strong>,\u00a0#M\u00e9xico<\/strong>.- On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/strong>, the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT)<\/strong> hosted a crucial<\/strong> conference entitled: \u201cBreaking Stereotypes: Challenges and Barriers\u201d<\/strong>, signalling its unwavering commitment<\/strong> to fostering gender equality<\/strong> within its structure. The session, led by the Master of Clinical Psychology, Lourdes Adames Beas<\/strong>, underscored the fundamental necessity<\/strong> of strengthening policies<\/strong> designed to protect women and systematically dismantle<\/strong> deeply ingrained gender stereotypes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the insightful discussion, Ms Adames Beas<\/strong>, an expert in matters of sexual abuse, emphasised the prerequisite<\/strong> of naming<\/strong> violence before it can be eradicated. \u201cWe must break stereotypes and end violence against women, but, to do so, we must first name it, because what is not named does not exist,\u201d<\/strong> she argued, highlighting that a lack of awareness<\/strong> about the forms of violence is often the primary obstacle<\/strong> to its elimination. This perspective informs SICT\u2019s<\/strong> strategies to actively promote a culture free of violence<\/strong> and cultivate respectful, egalitarian<\/strong> professional environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These proactive measures, championed by the Coordinating Directorate for Gender Equality<\/strong> led by Sarah\u00ed Palma Castellanos<\/strong>, include strict protocols to prevent, address, and sanction<\/strong> sexual harassment and abuse. Ms Palma Castellanos<\/strong> noted that creating spaces \u00abfree of violence towards women\u00bb<\/strong> is a shared responsibility<\/strong> among all personnel, and public servants are strongly encouraged<\/strong> to file the corresponding complaint<\/strong> should they witness or experience such conduct, thereby ensuring zero tolerance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agency’s consistent dedication to these topics confirms its role as a leader<\/strong> in combating gender violence<\/strong> across the public sector, having organised seven<\/strong> such awareness sessions in 2025<\/strong>. The ongoing educational programmes are instrumental<\/strong> in building a more conscious<\/strong> and respectful<\/strong> workplace culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
