Contest for the First Novel Award 2022, seeks to recognize the talent of emerging writers from all over Mexico

#MexicoCity. – The Presidency of the Republic, through the National Reading Strategy, together with the Ministry of Culture of the state of Tabasco and Amazon Mexico, announced the call for the First Novel Award 2022, an award that in its second edition seeks to continue promoting the talent and efforts of Mexican writers who published a novel for the first time during 2021.

The First Novel Award 2022 is open to all authors who published their first novel in print between January 1 and December 31, 2021. To be eligible to compete, the novel must meet the requirements of being an original work of fiction and have been written by a single author in Spanish. In addition, the author must have Mexican citizenship or permanent residence in Mexico, be over 18 years of age and not have published a novel anywhere in the world prior to the publication of the book submitted.

The winner of the First Novel Award 2022 will receive a cash prize of 250,000 pesos and will be announced in August of this year. Three finalists will also receive an award of 35,000 pesos each. Authors and publishers will be able to submit their works from February 8 to May 4, 2022, through the website primeranovela.com.
