The Ministry of Culture and Inbal give Elena Poniatowska the recognition for the return of the painting «El panteón»

#SecretaríaDeCultura . –  The Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) inform that they have been in contact with writer Elena Poniatowska to attend to the subject of the work she owns: El panteón, by artist Nahui Olin, which participated in the exhibition Nahui Olin. A woman of modern times, which was presented between December 1992 and March 1993 at the Museo Estudio Diego Rivera (now Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo), which after concluding its itinerancy at the Museo de Aguascalientes and the Pinacoteca de Nuevo León, returned to the Inbal, which was in charge of returning all the works on loan.

After reviewing the archives of the exhibition, the Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo found the receipt that certifies the return of the piece generously loaned by writer Elena Poniatowska. These documents were given to her in response to the request she made on January 24.

Inbal’s investigation examined the file with the documents that show the loan process of the work, including the loan request letter, insurance policy, letter of appreciation for the loan and receipt for the return of the work, the latter dated December 3, 1993, which was delivered at that time to Paula Haro, the writer’s daughter. The Federal Ministry of Culture, through the Institute, has offered her support in whatever she may require in relation to the piece.
