Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec will detonate the country’s economic development

#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador highlighted the progress of the construction of the Inter-Oceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, which includes the rehabilitation of the ports of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca and Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. This strategic project, he said, will boost the country’s economic development.

The President informed at a morning press conference that spaces are being expanded to receive more containers and railroad tracks are being modernized in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in order to facilitate the transportation of cargo and passengers.

«Progress is being made on the breakwater in Salina Cruz, which will help large vessels to reach the port and take the wind and waves away. It is a pier of a kilometer and a half; it is being built,» he said.

The Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec will join the Pacific Ocean with the Atlantic Ocean and the East Coast of the United States; it will contribute to take advantage of the favorable economic conditions in Asia.
