Operation Toca Puertas in Belize is key to boosting the Mundo Maya region: Miguel Torruco

#SecretaríaDeTurismo.- Accompanied by Mexico’s ambassador to Belize, Martha Zamarripa Rivas, the Minister of Tourism emphasized to more than 70 representatives of Belize’s tourism industry, including travel agents and 46 businessmen interested in investing in Mexico, as well as tourism authorities of that country, that through this joint effort, something that was only in the speeches will become a reality.

He emphasized that there should be no more red tape. «We are going for a cooperation that produces results. In the Operation Knock on Doors program, we are accompanied by decision-makers, in order to move forward and make things happen,» Torruco Marqués declared.

He added that tourism progress in this region had been halted, but affirmed: «We have the right people here to achieve success. It is a pleasure to be here, because you are great neighbors, and we will continue working together, Mexico and Belize, to achieve great results».

The Secretary of Tourism presented the Seminar «This is Mexico», in which he explained that our country is a mixture of traditions, cultures, colors and nature. He highlighted the importance of the sector, representing, in 2019, 8.6% of the National GDP; in addition, it is the first employer of young people and the second of women.
