#SanMiguelDeAllende, #Gto.- The Municipal Government headed by President Mauricio Trejo, through the Environment and Sustainability Department, successfully carried out an operation to capture a crocodile that was located at the bottom of a bank of material and transfer it to a controlled environment for its natural development.

With the utmost care for the animal, this deployment of preparations began this Thursday morning by the Municipality, with the support of the Secretary of Public Safety, Municipal Transit and Civil Protection, in coordination with a team of veterinary specialists from the Moroleon Zoo and personnel from the Federal Attorney’s Office for Environmental Protection (Profepa).

The reptile was monitored for hours and after two attempts, it was captured using fishing rods with bait.

Secured and without putting its health at risk, the specimen was physically examined, medically evaluated and was satisfactorily diagnosed; it was confirmed to be a Morelet’s crocodile or «Mexican Crocodile» (crocodylus moreletti), one meter long with a maximum reach of up to three meters in adulthood, weighing 12 kilograms, with an estimated age of two years; its tail was cut off, although it is in very good health and physical condition, fed, hydrated, very strong and active.
