#SECTUR.- Through a constructive, plural, open and transparent dialogue, Miguel Torruco Marqués listened to and addressed the concerns of the deputies who expressed their doubts and proposals for the benefit of tourism, on topics such as tourism promotion, tourism products, migration, air connectivity and security, among others.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) emphasized that tourism in Mexico is in full recovery thanks to the policies implemented by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who has not restricted international flights; the biosanitary measures implemented in a joint effort between the private sector, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Tourism; and the implementation of vaccinations.
He highlighted that from September 2021 to June 2022 the sector’s indicators are an unequivocal reflection that tourism in Mexico continues to consolidate.
- International tourist arrivals increased from 22.5 million to 29.8 million, 7.3 million more, making Mexico the second most visited country in the world.
- Foreign exchange income reached $21,756.5 billion dollars, 90 percent more than the $11,286.2 billion dollars of the previous year, with which Mexico moved from 17th place in 2018 to 9th worldwide.
- International tourist arrivals by air grew from 8 million 606 thousand to 16 million 468 thousand tourists.
- Average spending increased 53 percent, going from 277.30 dollars to 424.70 dollars.
