#EstadoDeMéxico.- In order to provide better development opportunities for the people of the State of Mexico, the Gender Equality Curriculum Strategy (ECIG), promoted by the Governor of the State of México, Alfredo Del Mazo Maza, was launched in the current 2022-2023 school year in all elementary and high school institutions in the state.

The ECIG, the only one of its kind in the country, aims to contribute to eliminate inequalities between girls and boys, adolescents, as well as between women and men, with educational activities that incorporate content on Gender Equality, Human Rights and Culture of Peace, which are developed in four books for teachers and five for students.

The Ministry of Education, headed by Gerardo Monroy Serrano, emphasizes that all the contents are aligned with the state regulatory framework and the current study plans and programs.

In addition, they were developed with the participation of technical teams from the state’s educational structure, with the support of specialists in the field, from higher education institutions such as the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, the Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México and the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, as well as the collaboration of the UNESCO Office in México.

During the current school year, at least one hour of the school week is set aside for the development of educational content: one hour in preschool, secondary and high school, and one hour and 30 minutes in elementary school, with the guidance of the teachers in front of the group and personnel designated by the educational authorities of the institutions.
