SEP reaffirms zero tolerance for violence against women in higher education institutions / @Letamaya @SEP_mx >>>

#SEP.- Violence against women is an issue that concerns society as a whole in order to find solutions and eradicate it, said the Undersecretary of Higher Education, Luciano Concheiro Bórquez, who reiterated that the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) is implementing concrete actions aimed at zero tolerance against any type of violence.

During the conversation «Reflection and analysis on the impact of Agreement 190 on violence and harassment in Higher Education Institutions», organized by El Colegio de México (Colmex), he recalled that, at the beginning of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, a discourse of normalization of violence against women in educational institutions was identified, which led to impunity.

«By making the victims objects and not subjects, nor sensitive, nor that they had suffered harassment or violations, then we found ourselves with a formal construction, which guaranteed impunity.»

He recalled that on March 5, 2021, guidelines were published to develop and implement mechanisms for the prevention, attention and punishment of sexual harassment and harassment in Higher Education institutions, in addition to taking cases directly to the prosecutors’ offices of justice, and promoting these instances.
