#Monterrey, #N.L.- Two years ago, the government of the city of Monterrey faced the challenge of offering digital services to its citizens with a digital infrastructure at the limit of its capabilities. To meet this challenge, it opted for a digital transformation that would allow it to maintain its local servers and ICT infrastructure and add scalability, agility and security.
Through the consulting and technical support of Xertica, a Google Cloud Platform certified partner, the Government of Monterrey was able to implement a hybrid cloud model to deploy a digital platform for citizen participation. Thus, it quadrupled people’s participation in projects such as the Participatory Budget, and is in the process of creating a single window for digital procedures.
Security was also an important element to consider in the digital transformation of the Monterrey administration, as it works with large volumes of sensitive information. By adding infrastructure resources through the Google Cloud, the city government can now count on secure data backups and recovery agility, facilitating its response in the event of a disaster or undesired events.
As part of its digital transformation, supported by Google Cloud solutions and infrastructure, the city government recently created the Secretariat of Innovation and Open Government with the aim of simplifying procedures and expanding access to municipal services. Likewise, the institution’s technology team now has 2 strategic operation lines: the Support and Infrastructure Directorate, dedicated to hardware and telecommunications, and the Digital Government Directorate, responsible for software and data governance.
