#SanMiguelDeAllende, #Gto.- A decade after the arrival of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in San Miguel de Allende, the university campus will become a reality this year.

Verifying the progress of this work, the president of San Miguel de Allende, Mauricio Trejo, together with the director of ENES León, Laura Susana Acosta Torres, and the head of the campus, Javier de la Fuente Hernández, recalled with emotion how what 10 years ago was a dream, this year is about to become a tangible fact.

«We have already seen the fruits of what was the arrival of the UNAM to San Miguel de Allende, but today we are going to see super-worthy facilities, very well placed, they will give the opportunity to young people of limited resources to be able to pursue a career. I am happy that this month UNAM celebrated 10 years of having come to San Miguel de Allende, happy that I was mayor of San Miguel de Allende for the first time and that together with the former governor Miguel Márquez Márquez and the then rector (José) Narro we were able to work together in such a way that we were able to bring UNAM to San Miguel de Allende and that today, I repeat (it will be) a great opportunity for all the people of San Miguel de Allende,» said Mauricio Trejo.

At the end of this tour, the president confirmed that the UNAM in San Miguel de Allende will open its doors in 2023, since the country’s Maximum House of Studies took advantage of the land that was given in commodatum in 2013, when he was municipal president for the first time, mentioning: «I see it very advanced and I tell all the people of San Miguel de Allende that the next school year they will be studying here at the UNAM. The Municipality has worked hard to make this a first class infrastructure».
