The Municipal Archive of Tecámac preserves its documentary heritage of more than 200 years / @MarielaGtzEsc @MejorTecamac >>>

#Tecámac, #Edoméx.- The Municipal Archive of Tecámac, the only one of its kind in the northeastern region of the State of México, houses the documentary heritage dating from the eighteenth century, which represents an invaluable historical legacy for the residents.

Almost a year after the inauguration of its new facilities, this space houses the first Minutes of the Town Council of 1874, of the then newly founded municipality of Tecámac, which reflect the first government actions.

There are also documents on the number of inhabitants in each of the 12 original towns, such as a census of 1882 of the town of San Jerónimo Xonacahuacan, where there were 1,379 inhabitants at that time.

Also in the Municipal Archives are the payment slips for different services and sanctions, among them the fines for disturbing the public order in the amount of 100 pesos, which had to be paid by the offenders in 1954.

In order to protect these historical documents, the government headed by Mayor Mariela Gutiérrez Escalante inaugurated in September 2022 the new facilities, which are the most modern in the region, since in the previous administration the documents were abandoned in a warehouse.
