IMSS held First National Meeting of Children and Adolescents Living with Diabetes / @zoerobledo @Tu_IMSS>>>

#IMSS.- The Director of Medical Services, Dr. Célida Duque Molina, highlighted the commitment of the country’s multidisciplinary team of physicians, nutritionists, nurses and social workers to improve metabolic control.

• She indicated that comprehensive care has been strengthened with committees in the hospitals for closer follow-up.
• Dr. Luis Rafael López Ocaña, head of the Mexico City South Representative Office, indicated that health personnel are always close to their pediatric patients to assist them in the planning and continuity of diabetes care.

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) held the First National Meeting of Children and Adolescents living with Diabetes, with the aim of sharing the work experiences of the multidisciplinary groups that provide comprehensive care to minors.

The opening ceremony took place in the facilities of the Magic Lantern Cinema of the IMSS, with the presence of more than 65 minors, their families and caregivers from the High Specialty Medical Units (UMAE) Hospital General Centro Médico Nacional La Raza, Hospital de Pediatría Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI and Hospital Regional No 32, in addition to the medical staff responsible for their care and institutional and sectorial authorities with more than 200 attendees.

In addition, the 49 multidisciplinary groups located in medical units of all the states participated virtually, of which seven are from the Third Level and 42 from the Second Level of care.

In her inaugural message, the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Celida Duque Molina, highlighted that Social Security’s efforts with the PediatrIMSS program have achieved that subsequent pediatric patients with diabetes treated at the Institute’s units have a metabolic control of around 48 percent, while the world average is 30 percent.
