Tribute concert to Rachmaninoff on the 150th anniversary of his birth and 80th anniversary of his death / @Museodehistoria >>>

#Events.– He began his piano studies at the age of 6 after having shown a great disposition towards music since he was a child. In Mexico, from 1958 to 1977, he studied with the distinguished pianists Carmela Castillo de Ruvalcaba, José Luis Cházaro, Carlos Barajas and Ma. Teresa Rodríguez.

He has given numerous performances as a recitalist, as a pianist in chamber music and as a soloist with symphony orchestras since 1965. At the end of the seventies he studied in Canada with the notable pianist Peter Katin and throughout his career he participated and attended several times to various piano courses such as those of Jörg Demus, Daniel Ericourt and Rosalyn Tureck. He obtained several first places in piano competitions and has given recitals both in Mexico and abroad.

In the 1980s he presented the Complete Cycle of Beethoven’s 32 Piano Sonatas. He is the first Mexican pianist to perform such a majestic work in concert halls. He frequently offers lectures and piano improvement courses in Mexico and abroad, among other places in Durango, La Paz, Tarija, Potosi, Georgia, Chiapas, Kansas, etc., reviewing the general piano repertoire and Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas in particular.

The Collection of «Emilio Lluis on CD and DVD» constitutes his concert biography. It consists of seventy CDs and more than one hundred and twenty videos. You can listen to them and find the links to the videos on his website www.emiliolluis.org. His book «Música, Matemática y Concertismo» can be freely downloaded as well.

His performances include repeated tours in South America and Europe, performing as recitalist in Canada, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, United States, Austria, Spain, Colombia, etc. and as soloist with multiple national as well as foreign symphony orchestras including the Rio de Janeiro Philharmonic and the National Symphony Orchestra of Bolivia performing works such as Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto, Brahms’ Concerto 2 and Rachmaninoff’s second concerto for piano and orchestra.
