Mexican Air Force aircraft lands in Haiti to continue strategic cooperation projects between México and Haiti / @aliciabarcena @SRE_mx >>>

#SRE.- The Ministries of Foreign Affairs (SRE) and National Defense (Sedena) inform that on August 26, a Mexican delegation was received in Port-au-Prince by Haiti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Jean Victor Généus, and the Mexican Ambassador to Haiti, Daniel Cámara Ávalos. The delegation was composed of the head of the Sedena’s International Affairs Subsection, Colonel F.A.P.A. D.E.M.A., Astroel Morales Martínez; the director general for Central America and the Caribbean of the SRE, Imanol Belausteguigoitia; the director of International Affairs of the Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris), Amina Achaibou, and the director of Operations of the same institution, Alexandro Molina.

The Mexican Air Force (FAM) aircraft transported 2,025 kg of calcium hypochlorite, enough to make 867,780,000 liters of water drinkable, which the Mexican Government is offering to the people of Haiti to support their authorities in the face of the cholera outbreak in the country.

Upon return, the FAM aircraft will transport 110 elements of the Haitian Armed Forces (FADH) to Mexico to receive specialized training and training in drone operation, as part of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, signed in 2018, between the Sedena, the Mexican Ministry of the Navy and the Haitian Ministry of Defense. Similarly, the flight will transport 12 officers of the Haitian National Police, who will receive training in drone use and operation.

Cofepris officials also met with representatives of the Ministry of Public Health and Population to follow up on the implementation of the «Strategy for cooperation in sanitary regulation of the Government of Mexico and Haiti», through which technical advice and training will be provided to strengthen Haitian capacities in terms of sanitary self-sufficiency.
