For lower-cost electricity, Veracruz invests in sustainable projects / @CuitlahuacGJ @GobiernoVer >>>

#EstadoDeVeracruz.- The transformation of the country promotes the use of renewable energies in the production of electricity; therefore, the State Government, through the Ahorra Veracruz program, invests in projects to capture, use and manage solar energy that result in lower costs for users.

In this sense, Governor Cuitláhuac García Jiménez supervised the installation of 28 photovoltaic panel modules at the Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos del Estado de Veracruz (CECYTEV), Coatzacoalcos campus, capable of generating 19,400 kilowatt hours per year and saving approximately 54,000 pesos, with an investment of 437,000 pesos.

This is in addition to the 515 thousand pesos for a similar interconnected system that produces 24 thousand kWh, 70 percent of the consumption at the Instituto de Capacitación para el Trabajo (ICATVER), which allows recovering the resource in a little more than four years and avoids the annual emission of 10.5 tons of CO2, equivalent to planting approximately 530 trees.

This is a contribution of the State Energy Agency that summons businessmen of the industry, who contribute to the supply of electricity used in public institutions.

In spite of the fact that Veracruz has a nuclear power plant, thermoelectric and hydroelectric plants, there is a law endorsed by previous administrations that prevents the generation of more than 45 percent of the energy it consumes, forcing it to buy the rest from private individuals, at the price they set.

«This strategy of corruption means that 55 percent of what we pay in our bills goes to these companies and increases the cost of electricity; that is why, in the face of the demands and pressure from the population, we are in check,» said the head of the Executive Power.
