Carrera Panamericana sparks excitement, tourism and economic spillover in Mexico City / @TorrucoTurismo @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- On behalf of the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, the General Director of Social Management of Destinations, Jessica Islem Lugo Sandoval, accompanied by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, Nathalie Desplas Puel, and the General Director of the Carrera Panamericana, Karen León Grossmann, welcomed the runners with the traditional flag ceremony, who arrived on board their vehicles at the arch located in front of the emblematic Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.

She highlighted the strategic alliance that the Federal Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) and the Organizing Committee of the Carrera Panamericana have maintained for the past 5 years, with the purpose of promoting and facilitating the promotion of tourism through the circuits that it runs through, which show the natural richness, the color and the flavor that today place Mexico as a tourist power at an international level.

«This strategy has been the driving force to reach the finish line and have as a result this icon of identity, and a sense of belonging, more and more united. Today, the Carrera Panamericana brings us together, representing an opportunity to learn more about our Mexico, the one we want to know. Congratulations to these wonderful destinations, to our drivers, who bring joy to every corner of our tourist destinations, and who today reach the finish line with a dream fulfilled,» stated Lugo Sandoval.

In this sense, he highlighted the accompaniment provided by the General Directorate of Tourist Services, Angeles Verdes, to the participants, after starting in Veracruz, passing through Oaxaca and Mexico City, and continuing their journey of more than 3,500 kilometers through the states of Queretaro, Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi, to culminate on October 19 in Nuevo Leon.

Mexico City’s Secretary of Tourism, Nathalie Desplas Puel, pointed out that sports tourism represents 17 percent of the total number of visitors to the country’s capital, and this car race is a sample of all that this segment has to offer.
