#IMSS.- The Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, assured that the institution is ready to apply 12.7 million vaccines against seasonal influenza and almost 7 million doses against COVID-19, as part of the health sector’s effort to immunize the Mexican population during the upcoming winter season.
During the event «Start of the Vaccination Campaign for the 2023-2024 Winter Season», to be held from October 16, 2023 to March 31, 2024, Zoé Robledo expressed that as part of the lessons learned from the pandemic, the health sector was integrated, as it is no longer seen as «isolated institutions and each one attends to the beneficiaries or to whom it corresponds to, but all together looking after the most important thing: the people of Mexico».
The General Director of Social Security stressed that the IMSS is ready to move forward and make «this maxim that everything in the IMSS should be wellbeing» be «true, always and at all times».
He indicated that IMSS is present for this effort with the commitment of its senior staff: the director of Medical Benefits, Dr. Célida Duque Molina; the head of the IMSS Wellness Program, Dr. Manuel Cervantes Ocampo; and the head of the Nursing Coordination, Fabiana Maribel Zepeda Arias.
He highlighted that the general director of IMSS Bienestar Health Services, Alejandro Calderón Alipi, is also joining in to immunize institutional personnel, senior citizens, people with comorbidities and those for whom this vaccination is indicated.
Zoé Robledo acknowledged the authorities and the health sector personnel in this vaccination process, «I believe that for no one it is a surprise that we all know the great tradition that our country has in vaccination processes, since the 19th century when in 1804 Dr. Francisco Xavier de Balmis introduced the inoculation against smallpox in Mexico, and up to date, until today, in this new process».
