In addition, the presidential commissioners and representatives of the nine remaining member countries of the MP: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic, and the partners of the Inter-Institutional Technical Group (ITG) also participated in the meeting.

This meeting had a very special character, as it was the first meeting of the current Executive Director, who arrives at a time when the MP is undergoing a process of transformation. Gloria Sandoval, Mexico’s presidential commissioner, stressed the importance of renewing alliances with GTI partners and promoting strategic dialogues to identify priority issues to strengthen cooperation.

The meeting also addressed the progress of the Mesoamerica Project’s nine lines of action, reviewed the 2023 budget and approved the 2024 planning. The members of the IWG presented the progress of their work with the MP.

Likewise, the great commitment and valuable contributions of Colombia, which in its capacity as Pro Tempore Presidency printed in the second semester of 2023, were thanked and recognized, and the PPT was transferred to the Dominican Republic, country that together with Mexico will assume the Joint Presidency in the first semester of 2024.
