Delfina Gómez’s government promotes Otomí culture at the Forum «The Otomí Roads of Xonacatlán» / @delfinagomeza @Edomex >>>

#EstadoDeMéxico.- With the purpose of preserving and promoting the Otomi culture, the State Council for the Integral Development of Indigenous Peoples (CEDIPIEM) held the forum «The Otomi roads of Xonacatlan», in conjunction with this municipality.

The purpose of the event was focused on making known the cultural expressions of this native people that remain in force and are historically part of their identity as a community.

Thus, in front of more than 100 people, men and women experts in Otomi culture spoke about different elements that characterize the region, such as its music, gastronomy, clothing and language.

The event also included dance performances by the «Amor y Talento» Academy and the «Xihmai» team. In addition, the traditional group «Colibríes» presented the theme of the preservation of traditional music.

Daniel Rosales, a musician from the area, performed some rock songs in Otomí, emphasizing that different formats and genres can help to maintain their roots.

On the other hand, Omar Martínez, Coordinator of the Ndexi Cultural Committee of Xonacatlán, and Magdalena García, Indigenous Spokesperson for CEDIPIEM, gave presentations on «Rescuing the Otomi origins of Xonacatlán» and «Traditional Otomi Medicine», respectively.
